Shakespeare once said, “Sweet are the uses of adversity.”
When we are in the midst of adversity ourselves it doesn’t feel very sweet, but what he is saying is this:
“Sweet are the uses of adversity which like a toad, ugly and venomous at first look, finds yet a precious jewel upon its head and thus our lives, exempt from public harm, find tongues in trees, books in running brooks, sermons in stones and good in everything. I would not change it.”
Good in everything, I would not change it. Today as we begin a new week, let’s take time to reflect and listen in to the deeper parts of ourselves. If there is any adversity in your life, the news or any place around you –just be reminded that with a broad enough look and a big enough heart there really is good in everything.
We will look a little deeper and find that precious jewel upon the head of the experience we are in.
