It was the thirteenth century poet, Rumi, who said, “You can accomplish a hundred other things but if you do not accomplish the one thing for which you have been sent, it will be as if you have done nothing.”
As if you have done nothing. The one specific thing for which we have been sent. We could accomplish a hundred other things. We could amass great wealth. We could demonstrate great authorities and powers but if we miss knowing who we are and sharing our own unique gift with the world, it will be as if we have done nothing.
So this day, amid all the doing, pause right now and take a deep breath. “This day, may I know myself better and give myself to this world. I could accomplish a hundred other things but without this, it is as if I have done nothing.”
