“On Being Awake” by Mary Morrissey

Buddha was once asked a series of questions by his followers. “Are you an angel?” they asked. He said, “No.” “Are you a saint?” they asked. He said, “No.” “Then who are you?” they asked. The Buddha said, “I am awake.”

So today is an opportunity to practice being more wakeful. To be awake is to recognize the miracle of aliveness. We can be awake and, instead of trying to hunt for miracles, we can realize everything is a miracle.

I am reminded that the word “awake” implies that some of the time we will get a little bit sleepy. We will be tempted to agree with conditions before us that aren’t in alignment with the life we would love to create. So today, be awake to the miracles, and you will see them everywhere and in the most ordinary things.

To Staying Awake,

“Practice Seeing Essence” by Mary Morrissey

One of the greatest gifts you can bring every person you meet this day is to truly see them. I don’t mean just seeing people at the personality level, or as their history or what they look like at a physical level.

Instead, let’s make the practice about seeing essence. Practice seeing the “being” inside the human being. Practice seeing the great soul in the amazing disguise of the human flesh. In that seeing, you are actually helping anchor heaven on earth. By the seeing, you’re helping someone before you to feel truly seen and recognized for their beauty and brilliance.

Practice seeing essence today, and you’ll LOVE what you see in people!

Celebrating Your Essence,

“The Beauty of Being-ness” by Mary Morrissey

Have you ever paused to think that you are really a human being, and not a human “doing”? Today is an invitation for you to pause in your normal activity, to set aside your “to do list” and enter deeply into the magnificent feeling of your “being-ness.”

Today is an opportunity to be available to life as it flows through you. Be available to the mystery today. Be available to the awe, rapture and wonder of your own aliveness. Experience the colors that are around you, the sounds, and notice how everything pulses with energy.

When you pause for a moment and let go of your busyness and your “to do list” you open space for appreciating the here and now. From this pause, that voice in you that always beckons you to more makes itself known. Listen to the voice of love within you; it is the voice of your own beautiful becoming.

Listen to love.

Live in Wonderment,

“Doubt Free Living” by Mary Morrissey

If a farmer plants corn in her field, she knows that at the end of the season, she will harvest corn. She won’t starting doubting in the corn, worrying that tomatoes will pop up.

So it is in consciousness. What you focus on will manifest. If you doubt that process, you are out of harmony with the Law. Trust that what you plant is what you will harvest!

Today, proceed without doubt. Trust in your desires, and expect all good to come to you. You will eventually be harvesting the seeds you plant today, so plant wisely!

To Your Harvest,

Mary Morrissey

“Trust In Your Supply” by Mary Morrissey

No desire is felt until the supply is ready to appear. That is the truth.

The minute you have a desire, it is immediately in the Law of Mind, in the Law of Receiving.

The supply exists at a level that you are not aware of, but when you embrace your desire and expect its fulfillment, you draw it to you.

The Law is infinite; it does not withhold any more than the law of mathematics could withhold numbers.

You may make mistakes as you find your way, but they enable you by their correction to better know the Law.

Trust in your supply.

Expect Greatly,

Mary Morrissey

“On The Law Of Receiving” by Mary Morrissey

The Law of Receiving is activated through the practice of giving.

That means through the pure pleasure of giving.

It is not activated by looking in your wallet and mumbling, “Well, what can I afford?”, but a giving that is in harmony with the life you want to lead.

The activation of the Law of Receiving in your life is very powerful.

I suggest an experiment in the regular practice of giving, just for 30 days, then just notice what’s happened in your receiving. My belief is that if you do this with a good heart, you will never look back.

Give with Your Whole Heart,

Mary Morrissey

“The Divine Classroom” by Mary Morrissey

I love reading the poetry of Hafiz, the Persian poet in the 1300’s who in his poetry writes about having a love affair with life itself, right in the midst of our daily living.

He writes this one sweet little poem that I want to offer you today for consideration.

“We have all come to the right place. We all sit in God’s classroom. Now, the only thing left for us to do my dear, is to stop throwing spitballs for a while.”

What a wonderful thought! Here you are, and the curriculum of your daily life is perfect. The spit-balls are merely thoughts of, “I want this to be different.”

What if we could stop throwing spit-balls and start embracing, opening up to, and inviting the curriculum of love to have its way today? What a wonderful day you can create.

Enjoy the Classroom,

Mary Morrissey

“Here and Now” by Mary Morrissey

We live in a world that keeps us very busy. Most people are not relaxed. There’s only one place to be relaxed, and that’s in the now.

If you are thinking about the past or the future, you won’t be as relaxed into the moment as you could be.

Try this: Be still. Take a deep breath. Feel your body relax. Feel your breath rising and falling.

Everything is here and now. Feel your forehead relax and your shoulders let go. You don’t have to carry the weight of anything today.

I’d like to invite you to walk in a peace that supports you and reminds you that you’re never alone. You are always companioned.

You are always guided. You can trust this. Let go into the here and now.

Enjoy the present,

Mary Morrissey

“Create Peace” by Mary Morrissey

When circumstances arise that are less than ideal, you’ll find your mind automatically gets very busy analyzing and stressing, and reviewing the problems. The teachers of Zen aptly call this “monkey mind.” The mind won’t sit still!

The first thing to do when you encounter a challenge is NOT to deal with your circumstances, however tempting that may be. Rather, deal with your inner experience. You want to do whatever it takes to come to a calm center.

First, create peace and calmness inside yourself. Once you have achieved this, what you will find is that the answers you need will automatically start to appear. This is because you are relaxed and open —and receptive to the solution.

First, create peace.

To mastering your inner experience,

“Flow with the Good” by Mary Morrissey

Just like when traveling down a river, if you’re working with the current, it takes much less personal effort to move forward. Sometimes you can even set your paddle down and be swept ever-so-merrily along!

The truth is, when you’re working against the flow, you are using what’s called “will power,” your little human power. It is minuscule; a mere pygmy version of what you are capable of when you are aligned with the flow!

When you desire and expect good, you are empowered. When you adjust your desire and expectation to the flow of good, then nothing but good can come. The river of Life aligns you with the good, and you flow right into it.

Flow with the Good,

Mary Morrissey
