“On the Power of Intention” by Mary Morrissey

In ancient Greece, the discus throwers in the early Olympics received their scores not just on how far they threw the discus, but also on their offered intentions.

This is how the judging went: When the competitor came forward, he would hold up the discus and offer the discus and the throw to the gods, and then offer a fervent intention for that particular throw. Then he was judged on both, together.

I just loved that story when I heard it because I thought when you go through your day, there really can be an intention with everything you do. Right now you can offer your intention for your day. Hold it up high, proud, and then go and live that intention. Just do your best!

Intend Greatly,

“On Patience and Presence” by Mary Morrissey

Have you ever been in line someplace and had somebody in front of you who’s waited a long time say to the clerk, “You know I don’t have all day?” Have you ever said that inside yourself? “I don’t have all day.”

Let’s pause for a moment and realize, you know what, you do have all day. You have been given a precious gift. It’s all day! You have one whole day to share and care, to love and give, and to receive and experience the precious gift of this life.

Some people would say you just need to be patient. But even patience implies waiting for something to happen that isn’t right now. I suggest being present. Be present for the gift of today. You have a whole new beautiful day laid out before you. Be present and enjoy it!

“You Have Power You’re Not Using” by Mary Morrissey

A number of years ago, I was visiting Mexico with my kids and their spouses. Everyone decided it would be great fun to take these 4 wheel drive vehicles down to watch the sunset on the beach. Now, I love watching the sunset, but the idea of doing it from the back of a crazy all-terrain buggy was not my idea of fun.

I went with them, though, and we sped off into the dunes to the beach. On the way back, I kept getting stuck. I would ride half way up a hill, and then slide all the way down. Again and again, this kept happening. I was becoming more and more afraid.

Then my daughter’s husband rode over to me and whispered, “Mary, you have power you’re not using. Take your hand off the brake.” Sure enough, he was right! I would get half way up the hill and panic, and hit the brakes without realizing it. Once he showed me this, I ascended the hills with ease, any fear erased.

You know what? You have power you’re not using. Take your hand off the brakes and trust your life. Trust in a Higher Power guiding you. Trust that you have all the power you need to make your dreams a reality.

Believing in You,

“Your Spiritual Focus” by Mary Morrissey

True spirituality returns us to simplicity. To our essence. To the values and qualities that make this human experience a gift.

Today, I invite you to ask inwardly of your own Higher Power, “What spiritual quality would you have me focus on today?” You might hear a word or get a feeling. Listen for suggestions like compassion, truth, love, beauty, surrender, healing, or forgiveness.

Your deepest essence is calling you into your own next level of greatness. Place your attention there and let that spiritual quality be your teacher this very day.

Trust and Receive,

“On Being Awake” by Mary Morrissey

Buddha was once asked a series of questions by his followers. “Are you an angel?” they asked. He said, “No.” “Are you a saint?” they asked. He said, “No.” “Then who are you?” they asked. The Buddha said, “I am awake.”

So today is an opportunity to practice being more wakeful. To be awake is to recognize the miracle of aliveness. We can be awake and, instead of trying to hunt for miracles, we can realize everything is a miracle.

I am reminded that the word “awake” implies that some of the time we will get a little bit sleepy. We will be tempted to agree with conditions before us that aren’t in alignment with the life we would love to create. So today, be awake to the miracles, and you will see them everywhere and in the most ordinary things.

To Staying Awake,

Mary Morrissey

“Practice Seeing Essence” by Mary Morrissey

One of the greatest gifts you can bring every person you meet this day is to truly see them. I don’t mean just seeing people at the personality level, or as their history or what they look like at a physical level.

Instead, let’s make the practice about seeing essence. Practice seeing the “being” inside the human being. Practice seeing the great soul in the amazing disguise of the human flesh. In that seeing, you are actually helping anchor heaven on earth. By the seeing, you’re helping someone before you to feel truly seen and recognized for their beauty and brilliance.

Practice seeing essence today, and you’ll LOVE what you see in people!

Celebrating Your Essence,

“The Beauty of Being-ness” by Mary Morrissey

Have you ever paused to think that you are really a human being, and not a human “doing”? Today is an invitation for you to pause in your normal activity, to set aside your “to do list” and enter deeply into the magnificent feeling of your “being-ness.”

Today is an opportunity to be available to life as it flows through you. Be available to the mystery today. Be available to the awe, rapture and wonder of your own aliveness. Experience the colors that are around you, the sounds, and notice how everything pulses with energy.

When you pause for a moment and let go of your busyness and your “to do list” you open space for appreciating the here and now. From this pause, that voice in you that always beckons you to more makes itself known. Listen to the voice of love within you; it is the voice of your own beautiful becoming.

Listen to love.

Live in Wonderment,

Mary Morrissey

“A Truly Great Day” by Mary Morrissey

What if you knew already that today is an absolutely great day? Everything that will happen this day, every person you will meet, every thought you will think; everything has been orchestrated by the universe, by the love itself in which you live, move and have your being.

Trust that right now you’re in the midst of a great day. If there’s something you want to have happen in your life that isn’t here yet, use today to celebrate it as if it were already here. Thank the universe in this moment for your fulfillment.

Right here and right now, live this day from the perspective, “Wow, thank you! This is a great day!”

Celebrating You,

Mary

“Doubt Free Living” by Mary Morrissey

If a farmer plants corn in her field, she knows that at the end of the season, she will harvest corn. She won’t starting doubting in the corn, worrying that tomatoes will pop up.

So it is in consciousness. What you focus on will manifest. If you doubt that process, you are out of harmony with the Law. Trust that what you plant is what you will harvest!

Today, proceed without doubt. Trust in your desires, and expect all good to come to you. You will eventually be harvesting the seeds you plant today, so plant wisely!

To Your Harvest,

Mary Morrissey

“Trust In Your Supply” by Mary Morrissey

No desire is felt until the supply is ready to appear. That is the truth.

The minute you have a desire, it is immediately in the Law of Mind, in the Law of Receiving.

The supply exists at a level that you are not aware of, but when you embrace your desire and expect its fulfillment, you draw it to you.

The Law is infinite; it does not withhold any more than the law of mathematics could withhold numbers.

You may make mistakes as you find your way, but they enable you by their correction to better know the Law.

Trust in your supply.

Expect Greatly,

Mary Morrissey
