After investing the last 40+ years studying the invisible side of success, and the last 30+ years coaching tens of thousands of people in the art and science of transformation…
I’ve found that every single person wants to live a life that they love.
Not everyone may be able to articulate this, but it’s a yearning and a longing that each and every one of us has — and this includes you!
This longing to live a life you love is the reason you’re actually reading this blog post.
As a teacher of personal growth, self improvement and transformational principles, I’ve studied many, many books on the subject of the art and science of transformation — and today, I’ll share with you top three transformational books I have in my library, and that I recommend you have in yours!
BOOK #1: The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace Wattles
This book was published in 1910 by the Elizabeth Towne Company, and it was a major inspiration for the bestselling book and film, The Secret.
In his book, Wattles speaks of true wealth in terms of having not just financial prosperity, but also in enjoying vibrant health, having fulfilling relationships with those around you, enjoying what you do for a living, and having time and money freedom.
Experiencing fulfillment and abundance in all of these areas of life is what I have come to call “full-spectrum wealth.”
There’s one line in his book in particular that’s always been very, very important to me. He says: “Learning to think truth in the presence of facts is some of the most rigorous and difficult thinking you’ll ever learn to do, and that’s why so few people ever do it.”
I first read those words 30+ years ago. I had no idea what he meant, “the difference between truth and facts.”
Today, on a regular, repeated basis, I coach my clients to look at the so-called “facts” of their lives, and say, “All right. The facts are that I don’t have the money in my bank account that I’d like right now, or that I can’t see a way through whatever situation I find myself in at the moment. But what’s the TRUTH here?”
Because the truth is, you are far more powerful than any circumstance, condition or situation that you find yourself in, and you often have access to far more than you may realize in any given moment.
Perhaps you have something you can sell to generate the money you want, or you can give your time and talents to someone who will to pay you for it. There are opportunities all around you to create what it is that you desire. THIS is the truth!
And this is just one of the many transformational principles you’ll find inside Wallace Wattles’ The Science of Getting Rich.
BOOK #2: Your Invisible Power by Genevieve Behrend
No matter what she did or where she went, she couldn’t shake the feeling of profound loneliness that she had — not only for her deceased husband, but for a deeper relationship with life itself.
She began to study personal growth, self-development and transformational principles with several different teachers.
One teacher she really wanted to study with was a man by the name of Thomas Troward, but she didn’t have the money to travel from her home in New York to Cornwall, England where he lived…
So every morning and every night, Behrend visualized counting out twenty $1,000 bills. Then, she visualized using the money to purchase passage to London, she imagined herself travelling there on a ship, and being accepted as Troward’s student.
She constantly affirmed to herself, “My mind is a center of Divine operations.” During this time, she had a revelation that everything that exists must first begin in the mind.
In her book, she writes, “There seemed to come up from within me the thought… ‘everything must have its beginning in mind… and this means money as well as everything else.’ My mind accepted this idea, and immediately all the tension of mind and body was relaxed.” About six weeks later, she received the money she needed to travel and study with Troward.
Genevieve Behrend found a way to think around her problems, keep her mind on the goal, and not pay attention so much to the obstacles. One of her great lines in the book is, “I declined to be discouraged.” What a great tool, that we actually can decline to be discouraged!
Your Invisible Power sits on my shelf and my desk often, as one of my favorite books in my library.
BOOK #3: Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
This classic was written in 1937. The author, Napoleon Hill, was commissioned to write the book by Andrew Carnegie, who happened to be the wealthiest man in the world at the time.
Carnegie was an amazing man. If you’ve ever been in a public library in the United States, for almost every public library, you have Andrew Carnegie to thank. Because that’s how he used the last half of his life — devoting his time and his vast wealth to furthering education.
Carnegie realized that there was an invisible pattern for success that all highly successful followed, whether they were aware of it or not. And so, Carnegie met with Hill and challenged him to interview highly successful people, so that this pattern could be studied, codified, and made available to the common man.
Carnegie generated about 1,000 millionaires in his lifetime through his various businesses and educational endeavors.
But after writing Think and Grow Rich and sharing it with the world, the pattern of success that Napoleon Hill codified in his work helped generate thousands and thousands of millionaires, and this number is still growing.
Here’s one of my favorite quotes from the book: “Every adversity, every failure, every heartbreak, carries with it the seed of an equal or greater benefit.”
You can purchase these three books on Amazon.com, or from most bookstores.
If you don’t already own them, I highly recommend you give yourself the gift of buying them for yourself. Or, if you have a birthday or other big milestone coming up, request the people you care about to buy them for you!
These books have made a tremendous difference in my life, and I know that the success secrets that you’ll discover inside each one will be truly helpful for you, too.
